How does Intense Pulsed Light Therapy (IPL) work?

IPL emits a range of light-waves that targets specific things such as melanin in pigmented skin cells or hemoglobin in blood vessels. The light draws pigmented skin discolorations toward the surface of the skin and are eventually eliminated. When treating redness and vascular lesions the IPL is adjusted to target the small vessels in the skin — causing the hemoglobin in the vessels to break down and retreat.

How long does the (IPL) treatment take?

This depends on the size of the area being treated. In general a full face treatment takes about 1 hour.

What can I expect during and after my (IPL) session?
